Sell your comics
in Hartlepool.

Get a fair, honest valuation from Lee, a Teesside collector for whom Hartlepool is just up the coast road. This is local ground, so selling here means me at your door rather than a parcel in the post. I buy Marvel, DC, vintage and modern collections across Hartlepool, the Headland and the surrounding villages, and I have a soft spot for a town with a comics claim as good as this one.

Whether you are in the town centre, the Headland, Seaton Carew, the Fens, Owton Manor or out towards Wingate, selling your comics to me works the same way and costs you nothing. Send a few photos, get an honest offer based on real current prices, and I collect in person at a time that suits.

The town that gave the world Andy Capp

Hartlepool's comics claim is world class, and it deserves saying loudly: Reg Smythe, who created Andy Capp for the Daily Mirror in 1957 and drew him for four decades, was born here, lived here and died here, basing the strip on his own Hartlepool upbringing. Andy Capp ran in papers around the world, one of the most widely read comic strips ever made, and the flat-capped fella himself now stands in bronze on the Headland. Not many towns anywhere can say their most famous son is a comic character.

It gets better. The town's famous monkey legend, the shipwrecked monkey hanged as a French spy, did not just give Hartlepudlians their nickname and a football mascot who got himself elected mayor in 2002. It literally became a comic: The Hartlepool Monkey, a graphic novel retelling of the legend, was published internationally. Hartlepool is a town whose folklore gets turned into panels, and whose own creators, like Marvel UK contributor Niel Bushnell, started out drawing strips for the Hartlepool Mail.

The scene on the ground is real too, with comics and collectables traded up on the Headland and a gaming hub on York Road. A coastal town with this much story in it has collections tucked away everywhere from the Fens to Seaton Carew, and if one of them is yours, I am twenty minutes up the road with an honest number.

Why sell to Retro Relics Comics?

Most ways of selling comics in Hartlepool mean a shop offering a fraction of value, or a buyback site that cannot tell a key issue from a reprint. Retro Relics is different: every offer comes from live Whatnot and eBay sold data, so you get a genuine current price, not a lowball guess.

You also deal directly with Lee, a Teesside collector from just down the coast, rather than a faceless buying team. In-person collection, an honest number from real sold data, and your comics treated with the respect Andy Capp’s home town deserves.

"Amazing process from start to finish... prices he paid were better than anyone else I'd spoke to." - Damian Abel
