Guisborough sits where the Tees Valley meets the moors, a market town with the priory ruins at its heart and a lot of older housing stock around it. Older housing means lofts, and lofts are where comics survive.

It is also far enough out that people often assume nobody will travel to them. I will. A boxed collection is worth a drive, and I would rather come and look than have somebody post me something valuable badly packed.

How it works in Guisborough

Guisborough is an easy run from me and well worth the trip for a collection of any size.

1. Send photos. Covers and spines are enough to start. If it is a full collection, a photo of each box and a few close-ups of anything you think might matter.
2. I go through them properly. You get an itemised view rather than one number for everything, so you can see which comics carry the value and which do not.
3. You decide. No pressure, no obligation, and no hard feelings if you would rather sell elsewhere or keep them.
4. I collect and pay. Free collection, and payment on the day rather than when something eventually sells.

What I am looking for in Guisborough

Marvel and DC from the 1960s through to the 1990s, key first appearances, complete runs, independent titles and horror. I will also take the ordinary boxes alongside the good stuff, because leaving somebody with four boxes of comics nobody wants is not much of a service.

Why sell to me rather than a general dealer

Most house clearance firms and general second hand dealers price comics by the box, because they have no way to tell a valuable issue from a common one. That is fine for them and expensive for you. I read these, I sell them, and I know the difference between a first printing and a reprint, and between a newsstand copy and a direct edition.
